Why is GBS Better?
Imunologically Inert
GBS Coatings are the only hyaluranon based device coatings on the market. This inert polymer occurs naturally in the skin, vitrious humor, synovial fluids, and in the body’s extracellular spaces. It coats and lubricates the body’s cells and is instrumental in the healing process.

Enhanced Safety to the Blood
GBS-Heparin has been proven to be effective in preserving platelets and inhibiting the factors that cause Systemic Inflammatory Response. In studies, GBS coated circuits showed increased platelet counts, fibrinogen and serum albumin levels, and reduced white blood cell counts, IL-2 and C3a levels. Desorbed protein on hollow fibers was also significantly lower with GBS coated circuits. *1

Patients Benefit from GBS® Coatings
Studies have shown that GBS delivers significant patient outcome benefits, particularly
in high risk patients.  These benefits include: shorter intubation time, lower incidence of arrhythmia, reduced bleeding and need for blood transfusions, and reduced ICU and hospital stays.  GBS-Heparin has been demonstrated to work with low heparin protocols, reducing the amount of protamine administered to the patient.  With GBS-Heparin Free even your heparin sensitive patients can benefit from an effective coating. *2

Available With or Without Heparin
GBS Coating is available in two formulations to fit every patient. Choose the original GBS-Heparin, or the new GBS-Heparin Free for your heparin sensitive patients. Now
every patient can benefit from GBS’s proven technology without the risk of reaction
from heparin sensitivities. *2

Intubation time was reduced by 41%
There was a 25% decrease in the amount of blood transfused
Post-operative hemorrhaging was reduced by 31%
Patients’ ICU stay was reduced by 37%
Overall decrease in hospital stay was 38%

GBS is Superior
GBS delivers significant clinical, patient outcome, and cost benefits, particularly in high risk patients. No other coating on the market has demonstrated these benefits.
Improved outcomes translate into significant cost savings for the hospital. See table inside for details.

Reduced Platelet Adhesion
Scanning electron microscopy photos of post blood-contact GBS-Heparin and GBS-Heparin Free have shown that GBS Coatings keep surfaces nearly completely free from any debris.
